How to Fix GeForce Experience Scanning Failed Error on Windows PC?

GeForce Experience helps you to keep your graphics drivers up to date, and it also manages your gaming settings. However, sometimes you may end up with scanning failure on your GeForce Experience. This error usually appears when it scans your PC for available games.

Factors That Can Cause Scanning Failure Error in GeForce Experience

Basically, this scan failure occurs when your games are unsupported with your graphics. So, first of all, open your games list and then check their compatibility with your graphics card. If the games are compatible, then the following factors can cause this error:

  1. Corrupt or old drivers: If your drivers are too old, then it can cause them to be corrupted, and these corrupted drivers can cause scan failure in the GeForce Experience software.
  2. Lack of permissions to access the game folder: If your games are located in a folder that is accessed by an admin account, then an ordinary account won’t be able to scan it. Make sure the game is located at a normal location where it can be easily accessed by other applications or just log in as an administrator to get the full access over your device.

Uninstalling the NVIDIA Old Drivers and Reinstalling Fresh Graphics Drivers

This solution was originally referred by an NVIDIA employee when users were facing the same issue with the GeForce Experience application. Let’s try to solve this issue with this method:

  1. Go to the Start menu either by pressing the Start Key or accessing it manually with your mouse.
  2. Search “Device Manager” in the Start menu and then click on it. You can also access Device Manager by typing the “devmgmt.msc” command in the RUN dialogue box.
  3. In Device Manager, click on the Display Adapters and expand it.
  4. Now locate your graphics card and then right-click on it.
  5. Select “Uninstall Device” from the available options.
  6. If asked to confirm the uninstall command, choose yes and confirm your decision.
  7. It may take a while in the uninstalling of the display drivers. So wait patiently till the process ends itself.
  8. Now check your Graphics card for the required information for downloading the compatible drivers from the web.
  9. Go to NVIDIA official website and click on the menu icon located on the top-right corner of the website.
  10. Select the “Drivers” option and then click on “ALL NVIDIA DRIVERS.”
  11. Now provide the required details about your graphics card and then click on the Search button.
  12. Results will appear on the screen, and you have to locate the needed driver.
  13. Click on the Download button.
  14. Wait till the download completes and then open it to start the installation process.
  15. Install the driver and follow the on-screen instructions.
  16. Make sure you select the “Custom installation” option.
  17. After that, you have to click on the “Perform a clean installation” option to make sure that old and corrupt drivers are entirely wiped out from your device.
  18. Now hit the Next button and complete the later process.

After performing a clean installation of the graphics drivers, your problem should be now resolved. Make sure that you are using the administrator controls on your PC.
