How to Fix Audio Issues on Windows 10

Suppose you open a game or stream a video, and cannot hear the sound. It is very frustrating when the audio does not work properly. Audio issues can be tricky, however, you can apply the steps given below to fix audio problems on your Windows 10 device.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap on the “Cortana” button to launch the Windows 10 search field.
  2. In the search tab, you need to type “troubleshooter.”
  3. Now select “troubleshooter” to launch the settings windows on your screen.
  4. Here you need to select the listed playing Audio troubleshooter and then tap on the “Run the troubleshooter” option to launch the windows on your screen.

Check Selected Playback Device

If you are using multiple playback systems, then you need to check if you have enabled the chosen speaker as the default device. To check, right-tap on the speaker logo under the system tray and click “Playback device.”

Right-tap on the device you wish to use as a default playback device and click “Set as Default Device.”

Select Loudness Equalization Settings

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Right-tap on the speaker system tray logo and then click “Playback devices.”
  2. Right-tap on the default speaker and then click “Properties” to launch the windows on your screen.
  3. Click the “Enhancements” button.
  4. Click the “Loudness Equalization” button.
  5. Select “Apply” and then hit “OK” to close the window.

Update Windows

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap on the “Cortana” button to launch the Windows 10 search field.
  2. In the search tab, you need to type “updates.”
  3. Tap on the “check for updates” option to check any updates available.
  4. When available updates will appear on your screen. Tap on the “Install now” option to update your windows.
  5. Tap on the “Restart now” option to reboot your operating system.

Restart Sound Controller

Restarting a sound controller can fix this issue on your Windows 10 operating system. To fix this issue, you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Launch the Win + X menu on your screen.
  2. Click “Device Manager” in the Win + x menu.
  3. Now double-tap on the video, sound, and game controllers to enable the list of audio devices.
  4. Right-tap on the active controller and then click “Disable.”
  5. Tap the “Yes” button to confirm your selection.
  6. Now you need to wait until the process is complete, then right-tap on the disabled controller, and click ‘Enable.”
