How to Find the Perfect Gift to Someone

by Nicholas A. Digital Marketer
Regardless of the occasion, whether birthdays, holidays, other special occasions, or the fact that you just feel like it, giving an awesome gift is important.

Why?

Even if the occasion is ceremonial and it's the gesture that counts, it's always a great long term investment to build solid relationships, and giving a great gift is a great opportunity towards this.

Not convinced or just don't believe it's important?

Then just think, whether it's someone important or someone you're just seeing a second time, in a crowd of people making less thought out gifts, you're the one that gives them something that just hits the nail on the head. It doesn't have to be something you know they've always wanted - it just needs to be something that will make the emotional in some way. You can make them laugh, make them pause and say "wow", "OMG!!!!", or make them go "awwwh".

Basically you're giving them a feeling - and there's a good chance they'll remember how thoughtful you've been ( and so will everyone else, most likely ).

Pretty cool, huh?

If you're convinced putting some effort in finding a gift, then let's get started.

First, some things to keep in mind:

1. Don't give money
Just giving money to someone generally sends the message "I couldn't be bothered to find you a gift". Of course, there are certain circumnstances where money is probably appropriate, but this guide isn't for those situations.

2. It's not the monetary value that's important
We may get the impulse to just spend more money on a gift and be done with it, but the fact of the matter is that an expensive gift doesn't necessarily make a good gift.

3. It's the thought that count ( read on )
Now this could be a double edged sword. You might be tempted to think that the intention is enough. Well, there's a saying that "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". This means that you can't get lazy. You want your gift to show that you care and has had thought put into it.

4. Aim to offer an experience
The gift you're offering should be more than an object. It should offer the person you're giving it to the opportity to feel something - whether just in that moment, or by them imagining the potential of using your gift.

5. Wrap the gift
Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but there's a fun in the unwrapping and unboxing your gift. Some people emphasize that you should choose the wrapping carefully, however it is not supremely necessary. A good idea is to just tastefully wrap the gift.

Having said that, here are a few essential points that will help in making your gift stand out:

1. Gen an idea of what they like via their social media
You could say that this is a little light stalking, but hey, everyone does it. You've, at least, will have good intentions. By browsing their social media, you'll most likely get at least a small idea of what the person you're giving a gift to likes - what personality they have, or even a wish list.

2. Ask their friends or family
This is common sense. You can just ask someone closer to them to get a vague idea of what they like. Or, who knows, maybe you find out they like some rare collectible item that reminds them of their childhood and you've got the means to get it. Imagine the joy you'd bring!

3. Give something that you would like
It's a good idea to give something that you yourself like. Keeping that in mind when you're searching for a gift will ensure that you put your heart into it. This way, you'll make sure that you'll put in the effort when choosing the gift and you can be sure that it'll show and won't go unnoticed!

4. Include a thoughtful message, card, or letter
In addition to the heartfelt gift, you should also include a heartfelt message. It shouldn't be just a simple "Happy birthday". All you have to do to leave a long lasting impression on that person is to sincerely, even in detail, what you wish for them in the future - such a happy life with their loved one and that they're a wonderful person. You can definitely get into details - it is their moment, after all - make them feel special and the star of the show.

5. Turn to the Web for inspiration
There are a lot of great resources online ( such as this article, hopefully ). You can find loads of inspiration for any type of personality.
