How to Ensure Proper Maintenance of Epoxy Floors

Does your working place or garage has floor coating with epoxy? Are you taking proper care and maintenance for it? Proper maintenance of such floor is essential and the good thing is cleaning up of the epoxy floor is comparatively easy, as it helps in removing stains and dirt.  The main reason why many people choose epoxy is because it is easy to maintain. Here is some cleaning advice that must be followed.

Maintenance

A dust mop should be used to clean the epoxy floor.  If you use dust mop even for a few times every week, it will help in cleaning the epoxy floor.  If the floor has any cracked portion, use a broom or vacuum cleaner to clean that portion.  When you see any fluid leaking from your car or any other vehicle, always use a soft cloth to remove them.

Heavy duty cleaning

The epoxy floor can easily get dirty, so it must receive a complete cleaning every month. We suggest you to use foam mop instead of string mop. If you use wrong cleaners to clean epoxy flooring materials, it can fade and may lose its shine.

The green solution is appropriate for this kind of cleaning. You must use a spray bottle, which contains this Green solution. Remember the ratio of water and this solution must be 8:1. Spray on the different sections of the floor and then scrub with a dirty rag. Ammonia can be also applied for cleaning. Use half cup of ammonia with hot water and then apply with a foam rag or mop.

Stubborn stains

There are some stains, which can’t be easily removed, like salt and rust stains. To remove them elbow grease can be used. You have to mix Calcium, lime, and rust cleaner with warm water in 1: 1 ratio and have to apply directly on the stains. You have to use a brush or scrub to clean, but remember the solution must not stay on the surface for more than a few minutes.

Remove the oil spills immediately

The oil spills are very dangerous. They not only cause a potential hazard but also can damage your floor. Apart from that, acids, caustics, and harsh cleaners are also harmful to your epoxy floor. So they should be removed as early as possible.

Apart from that, check the following basic tips that  also helps in maintaining epoxy flooring materials.

•    Never use any cleaner, which contains acids like vinegar or soap. Because soap based cleaners always leave a residue on the floor and it can make the floor slippery and wet.

•    A welcome mat can be used to remove snow and water that comes from the shoes while entering the room.

•    You can also use a computer mouse pad under your scooter stand to avoid damage to the floor.

•    If you mop your floors every week, it will shine and remain durable

Last but not the least, you should remember that daily sweep is essential. Always use a soft-bristled mop or automated sweeper to clean your floors daily. It will remove all the objects and stave off upcoming hazards.
