How to Create a Website For Free - 3 Reasons to Think Twice

by Tony Madison Payment Gateway
The " How to Create a Website For Free" mentality is fine if you are just building a free website for fun but may not be too practical if you need a real online identity.

Are you seriously considering building a website that does some sort of e-commerce, AdSense or affiliate marketing?

Instead of "free" think smart and economical. You need to spend a little time and money if you want a real scalable, functional website. If you're on a limited budget, strongly consider buying your own domain and finding low priced high quality hosting and using free web code to build web pages.

So, why shy away from the "Website For Free" mentality?

You Need Your Own Domain

If you don't own your own domain you're the web equivalent of a "second class citizen"! Most free web hosting services offer only a "sub domain" on their server. What this means is instead of having your own unique identity like http://www.yourwebsite.com your URL will be set up as a sub-domain like [http://www.theirWebsite.com/yourwebsite]. See the difference? Who are you? Will people remember that funny domain name?

For your website to be taken seriously you need your own domain name. Domains are pretty cheap - as low as $6.99 a year, so get your own.

Hosting Is Very Inexpensive

Hosting is cheap! Most of the free hosting service providers offer limited space and minimal data transfer. For a few bucks a month it is not uncommon to get a hosting package with 10-15GB of server space. Many have phone support, windows based file transfer (no FTP needed), unlimited domains on a single account all for a few dollars monthly.

Learn Basic Web Page Building (kodulehe valmistamine)

There are two camps - web publishers who are interested in learning HTML and those who work with the push button type web publishers. I prefer The HTML route.

Why?

HTML is the language of the web - always has been and always will be. If you plan on doing any serious web publishing do yourself a favor and learn it - you don't need expert skills either just the basics.

There are many copy and paste templates on the Internet that work great as structural templates for your content. These are simple copy and paste HTML / CSS templates. The key here is using the template for your content only - you need not develop or design the web layout structure - that's already been done.

Many of the push button publishers create "bloated code" which may or may not be compliant with all the different browsers out there now ( IE, safari, mozilla, opera etc..)

So why not think economical not "free" and ditch the " How to Create a Website For Free" mentality! Take your project seriously and join the ranks of the many real web designers. The learning curve is pretty easy for basic HTML.

And...

Launching web sites (kodulehe tegemine) can be very inexpensive if you tap into the right domain and hosting resources.
