How to Crafts Cardboard Boxes

by Cici Know ciciknow The make up of cardboard, whether it is corrugated or non-corrugated, is based on paper of various  paper cake box and can be formed into cardboard boxes of different sizes and thicknesses. The term ‘cardboard’ has been in use since 1683 and the use of cardboard in industry has gone from strength to strength since then. The uses of cardboard ranges from playing cards to cereal boxes to large heavy gauge corrugated cardboard boxes. Cardboard is used for posters and displays, bookmarks, book covers and cigarette packets. Waxed cardboard boxes are used for drinks cartons.

Cardboard is, then, flexible and can be used for many purposes. Shipping and transportation in  rigid paper box is far more economical than using plastic or wooden crates. Imagine if you had to pack goods in a wooden box for sending through the post! The weight and therefore the cost would be phenomenal. It is much cheaper to use cardboard boxes.

What do you do with all the cardboard you accumulate in your home? You can save the cereal boxes, house moving boxes and scraps of cardboard to build fun things with the kids. Wendy houses, daleks and puppet theatres are just a few things which you can build using cardboard boxes and a little imagination. If you give your kids a couple of  paper foldable box of different sizes, you will be amazed at what they come up with. Cardboard sheets of paper can be cut up and used for making decorative additions to the main project. The boxes do not have to be big. They can be as small as a cereal box. With a little glue, scissors and paint or crayons, you can make a great helmet to complement your suit of armour made from bigger cardboard boxes.

Cardboard has great insulating properties, and cardboard boxes can be shredded and used as bedding for the dog. Heavy duty cardboard boxes can also be flattened and used as ground sheets when you go camping, ensuring that you have a nice layer of insulation between your sleeping  chocolate packaging box and the ground. Cardboard is lightweight but strong. Removal boxes can be used to make furniture such as stools or chairs.

Cards for all occasions are made from cardboard. If there is a special occasion coming up, the kids can spend hours designing cards from light duty cardboard boxes and decorating them. It is much more fun to receive a hand made card which is individual rather than a mass produced shop bought one.
