How To Configure MSN Mail account with Outlook 2016?

Steps to Configure MSN Mail Account with Outlook 2016

Automatic Configuration

1.) Open Outlook 2016 on your computer and click on the File tab located on the top-left corner of your screen.

2.) Under File, select Account Information > Add Account.

3.) Now, select Email Account option and enter your Name, Email Address and Password in the provided field. After that, click on the Next button.

4.) Wait until Outlook completes the configuration of your MSN Mail account.

5.) Once the process gets completed, a Congratulations message will appear on your screen. Click on the Finish button and restart your Outlook.  MSN Mail account will get configured to your Outlook 2016.

Manual Configuration

1.) Launch Outlook 2016 and go to File > Account Information > Add Account option.

2.) Select Manual setup or additional server types option and click on the Next button.

3.) Now, on the POP and IMAP account settings window, make the changes as mentioned below:

·         Your Name: Enter your name

·         Your Email Address: Enter your email address

·         Account type: This is generally IMAP

·         Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com

·         Outgoing mail server: smtp-mail.outlook.com

·         User Name: Your complete email address

·         Password: Enter your account’s password

4.) Next, click on the More Settings button located on the bottom-right corner on the same window. A new box will pop-up on the screen.

5.) Go to the Outgoing Server tab in the box and select the checkbox next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

6.) Then, go to the Advanced tab and make the changes as mentioned below.

Server Port Numbers

Incoming server (IMAP): 993

·         Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 or 587

·         Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL or TLS

7.) Once entered, click on the OK > Next > Finish button to complete the configuration process. You can find your MSN Mail account added on the left side of the window in Outlook 2016.
