As soon as you have connected the monitor, you shall see some advanced settings available for personalizing the way your monitor links with the MacBook. Your MacBook can even be set to use only the external monitor. To do so, follow the steps given below:

Tap on the “System Preferences” icon.
And go to the “Displays” option.
Then select your external monitor from the display preferences in order to customize its settings.
Now tap on the “Display” tab and start selecting the screen resolution you want from the list of options.
Here you will need to select the “Colors” drop-down menu and choose your desired color display.

Note: The best option recommended for the wealthiest colors is “Millions of Colors.”

Then you have to select the Refresh Rate drop-down menu and then choose the Hertz setting.
Tap on “Arrangement” tab.
And check the “Mirror Displays” checkbox. Doing so will show the same screen on both your MacBook monitor and external display.
From the display picture, you have to drag the menu bar on upper side of the other display picture for setting your external display as the default monitor showing the menu bar, dock, and desktop.
Now, you will find that by default, your MacBook display has been set as the primary monitor, and this change will make the external monitor your primary monitor.
Tap on the “Color” tab.
Then you will have to choose a pre-configured display profile from the list of Display Profile.
Tap on the “Calibrate” button in order to calibrate the display to your personal preferences.
Then in the Menu Bar check the “Show Displays” for fast access to the display options for both of the monitors.
