How To Choose Between A Constant Heat Sealer And Impulse Sealer

by Tyler P. A Passionate Blogger - Entertainment
Choosing a heat sealer can be a hard decision considering all the options there are. While you probably just want one that can do its job, there are actually a lot of things to consider in order to choose a heat dealer that will give you satisfying results.

There are many kinds of sealers that you could buy for your business, which include hand held impulse sealers and constant heat sealers. Impulse sealers use an impulse of energy to heat and seal packaging with no time required for warming up. Constant heat sealers maintain heat, allowing you to seal thicker materials with virtually no limits.

Here are some factors to consider when choosing a heat sealer:

Speed

We’ve touched upon how both types of sealers work, and the speed of which they work could be either a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for.

Impulse sealers are quick to perform, requiring no time at all to warm up in order to seal a package. This however, means that you can only seal one package at a time, so how fast you will end up sealing each of your packages depends on how fast you work manually.

Constant heat sealers allow packages to be sealed one after another nonstop without cooling down and warming back up. This sounds more ideal for businesses that need to seal packages in large quantities. The caveat, though, is that the sealer needs time to warm up, so in the first minutes that you use the sealer, you won’t be sealing anything until the jaws are fully heated and ready.

Wiring Or No Wiring

The parts of a heat sealer that heat packaging materials are made of nickel-chromium, and their dimensions determine how wide you can make seals. One of the primary parts of a sealer is the wire that is heated, and wiring can come in either round or flat forms.

Flat wiring is capable of sealing poly or foil bags and tubing. Sealers with flat wiring can allow you to easily replace old wires with new ones when need be.

Round wiring on the other hand comes with an extra perk. Once you are sealing, you’ll be able to cut or melt the excess film off so that your packaging doesn’t require an additional cut with another tool. Therefore, this eliminates a step in the packaging process and will save you time.

It is important to note that constant heat sealers have no wiring at all, so if constant heat sealer is what you are looking for, it’s great to know that they will use their jaws to seal in an effective manner without wires. If you are looking for that convenience factor, an impulse sealer with round wiring will serve great purpose.

Cost

Impulse sealers will generally cost less than constant heat sealers due to their use of power. You can get an impulse sealer for as little as 51 dollars and as much as 387 dollars, depending on the width of the seal, wiring, and wattage. Constant heat sealers can cost around 100 to 1000 dollars, depending on the same specifications. Cost can also be a factor in which type of sealer you may end up getting, as well. While impulse sealers cost less than constant heat sealers, you will need to pay more if you would like a larger sealing width for your packages.

Summary

Impulse and constant heat sealers both come with their advantages and disadvantages. They come with different factors that can cause business owners to pick one over the other, such as the rate in which packages are sealed and heating options. A hand held impulse sealer is great for quick sealing with a portable and ergonomic nature.
