How to Check Your Search History on Instagram

A search history page or section is typically kept by software, websites, or applications that you use. It allows you to quickly access previous searches and locate what you need quickly. It is a good idea to keep a log of your search history, especially if you use social networks, social sharing websites, or apps. This will help you remember which searches you made and what information you searched for.

You are likely to have performed hundreds of searches on Instagram for popular hashtags, people, and places if you are a regular Instagram user. #nature) and places. If you don't have the habit of clearing your Instagram search history from time to time, all the result pages that you clicked after doing a search will be logged in your search history, for future reference.

Instagram is a website that is also accessible on desktop computers, but it isn't as functional as its mobile application and doesn't offer the same features. I will therefore be focusing on the Android version to see your search history.

Where can I find Instagram Search History?

Instagram doesn't have a page dedicated to user search history, unlike other platforms. All previous searches are recorded and made available to the user when they perform a new search. Some users may find it difficult to locate their previous searches.

Let's now see how to search for the Instagram search history using the following steps.

STEP 1: Open the Instagram app

Grab your tablet or mobile phone and tap on the icon to launch Instagram app.

The Instagram app will be opened. This will display the home page, where you can see photos and posts from the accounts you follow. Note that I will be using a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini for demonstration purposes in this tutorial but since the app interface are the same for Android devices, I believe you will have no issues following my instructions and screenshots below.

STEP 2 - Open Search & Explore Page

Tap the Search and Explore icon on the bottom of the Instagram homepage.

The Search & Explore page will be opened with a selection of popular photos. Here you can perform searches and find interesting Instagram accounts to follow. You can also explore the Instagram community.

STEP 3: Tap the Search Box

The Search page will be at the top. It contains a magnifying glass icon as well as Search text. To bring the cursor's focus to the Search box, tap on it. This is how you search Instagram.

After you click on the Search box the photos will disappear, and search results from the previous search will be displayed. In the screenshot below, you can see some of the hashtags I searched for recently and visited their related pages (#flowers. #volcanoes. #planets).

STEP 4 - Switch between Search Types

You will also notice that the Search page has four tabs: People, Tags, Places, Top and People. To view your most recent searches, you can simply select one of the tabs. Tap on the People tab to search for people. If you are looking for hashtags that you have searched before, tap on the Tags tab.

It's easy to access your Instagram search history.

You can permanently delete your Instagram account if you have privacy concerns or decide to stop using your Instagram profile.
