How to Capture the Perfect Easter Photos

So how do you capture the perfect Easter photos? With kids, any photo shoot can be a challenge. Instead opt for more candid shots. Capture the special in-between moments, like the kids decorating Easter eggs, dressing up, or covered in chocolate (it’s bound to happen anyway). Another great photo idea is a shot of all the kids after an Easter egg hunt, enjoying all their little trinkets.

Don’t forget the season is more than the people. Capture the sights of the Easter celebration as well as the family. A photo of a carton of colored eggs, the Easter decorations and all the elegant baskets with goodies make great reminders of the season you can reflect on. I remember as a child my dad set up a Easter egg present hunt throughout the house and the pictures of him setting everything up are some of my favorite childhood memories.

Don’t forget the special moments that you hold dear. Is there a tradition your family has for Easter? My family used to get dressed up and go out to dinner at a fancy restaurant near my grandparents house. We used to always take a family photo right before dinner. Those are the special events that you’ll want to capture, and can start a fun family tradition that you can all enjoy looking back on as the children age.

Always try to incorporate some of the colors of the Easter season in your photos. Easter is one of the few times of the year that softer colors are in fashion, so don’t be afraid to encourage your family to show off their colors! The spring season is about rebirth, and keeping your photos vibrant and colorful will help you best capture the spirit of the moment.

Easter is also a great time for props. Incorporate props with your pets for a unique shot (assuming your’s will cooperate long enough). Stuffed bunnies pictured with the little ones is always a cute photo op, and bunny ears on everyone else are sure to bring out the smiles! Pictures of family and kids out in natural surroundings, capturing the rebirth of plant life is also a vibrant opportunity, especially for families who love the outdoors!
