Men are very careful while buying cars. Since, everyone may not be able to afford a new car; one can cut down his cost of purchase by going for a used car. However, while buying such a car, you must be wary of certain things since used cars come with both pros and cons. This article shall enlighten you with some tips on the same.

Buying new cars may not be something that your wallet permits. But, do not lose heart. Now-a-days, using a car buying guide or with the help of an auto trader, you can buy old cars which will help you save money and, at the same time, give you good service. It is believed that new cars generally lose their spunk and more than 35% of their value within a year. So, your decision of buying a used car is not an imprudent one provided you follow these tips:

i.                    Be wary of clocking: Some corrupt used cars dealers may engage in the malpractice of clocking. When the odometer of the car is illegally wound back, then it increases the value of the car. So, you need to be wary of this practice. Always buy from a trusted auto trader.

ii.                  Be wary of car cloning: Car cloning is another immoral practice which can shoot up the car photos.  In this practice, a car is made to look like another car by changing its mechanical parts and number plates. That often makes the car become the clone of an original model.

iii.                Be wary of cut-and-shut: At times, traders can use the illegal cut-and-shut practice to weld together cars that have suffered accidental damage. Since the work done upon the cars is quite flawless, it is often difficult to spot the difference.  

iv.                 Do extensive research: You are advised to do an extensive research while buying used cars. Make car comparisons, take help from a car buying guide and compare several car quotes.

v.                   Plan your budget carefully: It is important to make estimates, car comparisons and to check insurance quotes & tax rates before purchasing the car.

vi.                 Examine the car in bright sunshine: Do not rely on car photos. Make sure to examine the car in bright sunshine (not in rain) to check for existing dents or scratches.

vii.               Take a test drive: Take a test drive if you want to lay your hand on the best used cars. A test drive will certainly give you a good idea about the car’s working condition.
