How To Become A Successful Internet Marketer?

by Neil Heaton Entrepreneur

Staying Power: For many, Internet Marketing is an enticing prospect, to say the least! It may first appear as an easy way to make money.  Whether you decide to promote products independently or become an affiliate, you will begin by putting in an extraordinary amount of effort for little or no returns.  And most people retire from the game almost immediately, when they find there is no such goldmine on the World Wide Web.  Because Internet Marketing calls for commitment and hard work, it could soon become overwhelming.  Not being diligent enough to understand the disciplines of online marketing has resulted in the downfall of many.  But for those with the staying power, Internet Marketing is a proven platform to establish a lucrative online business that will attract multiple streams of passive income.

The process involved is more than creating a web page or writing an eBook.  When you want to sell a product or service, you will find a range of marketing tools to follow and put into practice.  However, only a few of these will ever result in success.  And if you decide to become an affiliate, it is challenging enough to sift through the range of products you decide to promote.  You must not only launch the new product to market but you must also build a list of potential customers that trust you!

Testing: Marketing gurus will tell you how they explore many different methods in various mediums in order to succeed.  When you are new to the game, you start trying out all these different marketing tactics, but only in part.  When you don’t find instant success with one strategy, you are tempted to try another.  Thus you do not allow for the full potential of any one strategy to take effect.  And hence, testing is crucial! You must test, test and test again so you can rule out what does not work and rule in what does.

When you properly test your marketing options, you end up selecting the most valued methods and build up a fool-proof strategy of your own.  In the longer term, you will also find that the system you developed personally works best! It may have taken time, with lots of trial and error, but it will become the cornerstone of your Internet Marketing success.  You may even be able to able to sell your system online, one day, as a top selling strategy!

Four Golden Rules:

Rule 1: Find A Mentor!

Whether it is Self-development, a Business Venture or Internet Marketing, we all know that growth is accelerated by finding a mentor.  Mentoring helps you learn faster, develop skills quicker, gain knowledge from another’s experiences and avoid making mistakes others have made on the same journey.  Like a good teacher, a mentor will show you exactly what you need to know, how to master concepts and the best time for execution.

I have sought and found mentors in my life because they have proven to be the fastest way to learn.  Mentoring has not only got me to where I am today in Internet Marketing but has also played an important role in other parts of my life.  Today, I find myself mentoring others and there is no greater satisfaction than seeing people I have helped, transform from “newbie” to “successful online entrepreneur”.

Rule 2: Outsource!

Don’t make the big mistake and try to do everything yourself.  Put your energy into the most vital areas of your business.  Areas that encourage growth and help you reach your goals faster.  If you work on several projects all at once, progress will be slow and hindered by barriers.  You need to accept that you cannot be an expert in every discipline.  May be you can, but it is going to take up more of your time!  So outsource some of the work, where you can.  Set aside a budget for delegation or make a proposition to a third party that will allow you to focus on the most important aspects of your business.  If you take on more and more work yourself, you will soon find yourself bogged down in unnecessary tasks that will slow your progress significantly and to your own detriment.  Outsourcing will also get your life back!

Rule 3: Grab Free Resources!

You will remember the time you decided to get involved with Internet Marketing.  You will have seen or been shown a number of products that make people spend online.  I don’t blame you for feeling excited about buying into several of these products and earning big sums of money quickly! Although these products may have appeared as very attractive potential prospects, the truth remains behind mastering the Internet Marketing process and to become a master, you don’t need to splash out on multiple expensive products.  Instead, select one or two products referred to you by your mentor and market them to their full potential before moving on to another area or product.

Furthermore, absorb as much free information as you can.  There is no shortage of great reference material online in e-Books, videos, forums and blogs.  Consult with your mentor and trusted associates for direction and make note of the best free, reliable resources that are most suited to you.

Rule 4: Persistence Is The Key!

The breakthrough will come.  It could be next week, it might even be tomorrow.  Or it could take another six months.  But if you are persistent enough, this is a guarantee!

When things are getting a little overwhelming, take a step back and re-think your strategy.  Consider the focus of your energy, your time and investment and ask yourself if these are conducive to reaching your goal.  Ask yourself if you are avoiding, ignoring or working only half-heartedly towards your online success.

A lot depends on your mental attitude, strategy and devotion to learning and promoting yourself on a daily basis.  Remain persistent in your endeavours and success is bound to follow.
