How talent management modelling differs from agency modelling

by Mikey Sigurd Commercial Property Developer

The modelling industry is full of different aspects and functions talent management modelling are one of them. But what is it and how does it work?

The first thing you need to keep in mind that this type of modelling is very similar to agency modelling. Talent management just gives additional services that an agency will not necessarily offer. Let’s take a look at the modelling process and how the talent management option differs.

The general modelling process

  1. The agency receives briefs and casting information. It is important to note that agencies of the receive information on open calls that are not known to the general public.

  2. The briefs and open call information are passed on to all models that fit the brief. In the event of a client asking for more specific types of models or picking only a few out of the possible candidates only those will be able to go to the casting.

  3. Here the first difference occurs, where and agency leaves the model to go out and prepare by themselves, the talent management modelling models receive assistance. A talent manager helps the model to prepare for the open call, by arranging travel and accommodation, visits to hairdressers and even assistance in the practice and preparation for the casting. If this includes additional training the training is arranged as well.

  4. On the day of the open call all the models line up and do their thing on stage or pose for test photographs.

  5. After the casting sessions are over a model might receive a call back, a hold or get the job.

  6. After the jobs have been offered, contracts are signed with the agencies and models.

  7. Here the second difference happens; a talent management modelling model will receive additional help where contracts for   jobs are concerned. The talent manager will go through the contract and explain every different aspect of the contract to the model. Any additional wording or requirements will also be handled by the talent manager.

  8. The model prepares for the shoot; again talent management models have the upper hand. The talent management modelling manger will again assist in the arrangement of travel and accommodation, as well as any treatments and wardrobe requirements the model might need. Additional attention will also be given to ensure that the model is properly prepared for the job.  A modelling agency model might be required to sort this out alone.

  9. The model arrives for the shoot and goes through the process, from wardrobe to styling all the way through the shoot.

  10. The model goes back home.

  11. The third difference. A talent management modelling model will receive the feedback given via the talent manager. The talent manager will discuss the possible ways to use this feedback to work on certain aspects of the model’s modelling career and areas that needs improvement.
