by Meeraz Clinic Meeraz clinic

Thankfully, the answer to this question is no, Hair transplantation is not a painful surgical procedure. However, this does not mean there is no discomfort whatsoever. Luckily the pain is temporary.

Postoperative pain in most patients occurs after a hair transplant. This pain occurs only in hair transplantation performed with FUT (Follicular unit transplant). It happens because of the transection of peripheral nerves during strip harvesting

Scalp pain normally happens for about a couple of days. Then, the patient may still feel the discomfort that will cease within two more days. While the patient will still observe some post-surgical marks over the transplantation area. However, you are most likely to feel no more pain after four days only in total.

Pain killers are prescribed by the surgeon to help curtail such pains to be taken 4-5 days after the surgery. However most people do not need them 1 day after the surgery though, to show how minimal the discomforts are.

However, the type of procedure can determine the level of pain felt. FUT or Follicular Unit Transplant is said to be more painful than Follicular Unit Extraction ( FUE). This is due to the whole patch of the hair is taken with the skin of the scalp from the healthy region and implanted into the area suffering hair loss. The pains are more extensive and take a longer time to go away.

IF you are one of many people who suffer from hair loss or the effects of baldness and have come to the conclusion that hair transplantation is your vest option. There may be some worries around whether or not a hair transplantation surgery is painful or not. You don’t need to worry about the hair transplant procedure.

Is FUE Hair Transplant is Painful?

As FUE hair transplant is such a delicate procedure, it’s rather labour-intensive, and can look a little raw afterward. However, the actual FUE hair transplant does not hurt at all, as most hair transplant surgeons use a local anaesthetic to numb the scalp. It can be slightly uncomfortable at first, but once the area is numb, you won’t feel any pain. Most patients report almost no pain in FUE surgery. FUE transplantation is better with no pain surgery method.

In FUE, each hair sprout is taken from the hair bed of the healthy region and implanted, into the open spores of the recipient site. This heals the patient faster and has a minimal pain rate which can take one day or less to be non-existent. From this article, you may know FUE Surgery procedure is better. If you are looking for a transplant surgeon choose FUE hair transplant surgery.
