I've got those old furnitures, which I would love to revive them and make my home look more vintage. I am so fascinated from vintage things these days that I want everything around me to be vintage. So I consult my self with google and I discovered some very nice tactics, how to do this. I've gathered those tactics from dozen of sites. So I will save you the research and tell you which was most effective for me.I love to use only green methods of doing things, that is way I am not going to use any kinds of heavy chemicals in my project.

Let us start with our transformation project. First of all you should go preferably outside ( if you attend to do this inside it will be thoughtful to put some nylon all over the place, to be sure that you will be able to clean easy after that) and make sure you have enough space for work. Your first step will be upcycling, to make sure that you remove the old varnish and be able to start over with bringing to life your old furniture.

Upcycling

  • Remove all metal elements that may stand in your way

  • Start removing an existing varnish or paint with sandpaper

  • If you want them to look more authentic, you can make scratches over them with metal tool

  • Soak a cloth in water and wipe them out, to remove the dust

  • For the most of the wooden materials needs to be used primer to protect them for longer time

  • Leave them to dry properly

Painting

Now you are ready with the preparation for your new vintage furniture, and now is time to get down to action. First of all you have to choose what paint you want for your furniture. My most sincere advice is to you some kind of environmental paint. They are very effective, does not contain chemicals and looks just beautiful on vintage furniture. I personally prefer white colour or just some kind of varnish to leave the natural color of the wood to shine. In either case, when you start to paint the most important thing is to painting them only once and not to cover it all. Leave it slightly to shines, and don't try make it looks professional. Most of the vintage furniture are handmade and they never look perfect even when are new. This is their charm.

Those tips are coming to you with the kind assistance of Clean Carpets Salisbury
