How Injection Moulding is Done By Plastic Mould Makers in China

by Jacob Williams Hqmould - Plastic Mould Factory

Injection moulding is a manufacturing process that helps in producing machinery parts in a large volume. When it comes to the mass production process, the same product is produced in millions. So, why plastic mould makers in China use injection moulding? Here are some solid reasons.

Since the mass production of similar product is done, once the initial cost has been paid, you will find the price per unit during injection moulded manufacturing gets low. But, how? Here is the reason-

Low scrap rates: Injection moulding is quite similar to traditional manufacturing processes like CNC machining that cut away a good amount of plastic block or sheet while producing low scrap rates.

However, additive manufacturing like 3d printing has even lower scrap rate. And, it’s a fact that waste plastic from injection moulding manufacturing comes consistently from 4 areas- the sprue, the gate location, the runners and the overflow material that leaks out the part of the cavity.

The Sprue is the channel that guides the molten plastic from the nozzle of the moulding machine to the entry point of the mould tool. A runner is the system of the channels that meet up with the sprue as a part of the moulding unit and guides the molten plastic into the part cavities. Lastly, gate is the part of the channel after the runner leads directly into the part cavities. The molten plastic is left for cooling down, as soon as the injection mould cycle is completed.

A few things to consider: Before you opt for mass production of a product using injection moulding technology and home appliance mould, there are a few things to consider, which are as mentioned below-

Financial aspects: You have to determine the number of parts to produce, at which the injection moulding turn out to be a cost-effective method of manufacturing.

The number of parts that needs to be produced as per your investment that includes the cost of the design, testing, production, assembly, marketing, and distribution as well. There should be a constructive margin.

Design consideration: As soon as you simplify geometry or minimize the number of parts early, you can pay dividends accordingly. Make sure, you design the mould tool to prevent the defects during the production. It’s better to consider gate locations and use mold flow software to run simulations.

Production aspect: Experts suggest minimizing the cycle time as much as it is possible. Machines using hot runner technology can be a great help to cut delay from the cycle time. Moreover, designing the parts should minimize the assembly to save significant amount on labor cost.

HQ MOULD understands the obvious advantage that industries can get from injection moulding is it serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it gives end users an advantage to interact with the product. It also acts as a receptacle for battery, motor and various screws that can be used to fasten the device together. In short, injection moulding is extremely effective to organize a lot of internal parts within housing.
