How female education impacts lives?

by IPS Girls School Education

Why is education of a girl child important?

Girls’ education just doesn’t include sending a child to school for girls. It mainly means that girls learn, grow and evolve in the process. It is crucial that the child feels safe while in school to put the entire focus over learning only. The main goal is to make a child capable to complete all levels of education while building potential to win at the labor market; learn the socio-emotional life skills being basic to explore and accept to a changing world; make wise choices regarding their own lives; and be a self-content entity of nation and the world.

Girls’ education is deep ocean involving many layers. Literate and educated women tend to be more well-kept and groomed while making better food and health habits. They contribute more towards the formal labor market, adding more to the economy earning higher incomes, have fewer children, marry at a mature state and stage in life, and enable better health care and education for their offspring if they choose to become mothers. All these factors when contained in a pack can help lift households, communities, and India out of many problems.

Challenges in a girls’ education

Child marriage is one of the major problems in modern India as well. Child brides are forced to focus on housework, husband and eventually kids. Hence, they have no choice but to drop out of the school and complete fewer years of education than their peers who marry later. This hampers the education, health and growth of their generations to come. Economy is hampered as well in the larger picture. According to estimates, putting a stop to the system of child marriage could generate more than $500 billion in benefits annually each year.

Other hurdles girls face on the way to education include poverty, cultural norms, poor infrastructure, and crime rate.

Does confidence play a role in a girl’s growth?

Studies and practical observation has identified that women face gender bias, sexual harassment and powerful structural barriers in the professional setups. To be sure, the confidence gap is one of the major setbacks keeping women out of top jobs. Many men at work are full of confidence because they have got endless chances and time to know their abilities. Women should arrive in the work world having done the same. Confidence at school level is one factor which can be addressed and corrected at an early stage. Instead of standing by as our daughters mute their voices and lose identities when dominated and commanded by male peers, school systems can make them realize their individual identity.

How single sex school support impacts the life of the student?

Filling the gender career gap is one reason girls' schools are advocated. Studies have revealed in the past that girls do better in math and science and are more likely to select the same fields of study in college or graduate school. But in recent times, the gap has been seen closing and that if you really look at the numbers, women have been seeing going places and exploring all subjects. For some parents, teachers and eventually students, the main goal of sending kids to top school is to eventually get a stable job that pays well, not necessarily one that allows the fresh mind to realize her interest and follow true passions.  Kids aren’t sent to schools with a thought to do what they love. Their goal is just to do what will bring home a respectable paycheck. A top CBSE girl’s school acts as a catalyst in making the child see her true self and what she wants to achieve academically and otherwise while not being overshadowed by gender bias.
