How do you order outside food on a train?

Indian railways do have some good and bad names under their kitty. Railways are known to be the safest and cost-effective modes of transportation for those living in India. Even for visitors from abroad, catching up a train to reach a destination is super easy and safe. But in terms of food, there are not many good things about railway canteen. I recently watched a video on YouTube namely DO NOT PAY EXTRA for food on Trains and that was quite a shocking revelation for me. I came to know more closely about the ways in which foods are cooked and served to people on a train. That makes me look for other ways to order outside food on the train. I am here to share some of my proven ways, which you can follow too for ordering outside food on the train.

Get it from railway stalls:

There are some traveling diaries, which will take you a long time to reach your destination. It is mainly because the trains have to halt at multiple stations. Some stations might have a longer halting time for around 20 to 30 minutes. If you can get one such halt in the middle of your train journey, then you can actually get down of your train and order some go to snacks from the railway stalls. Here, you will get some of the most delicious train snacks, which are freshly prepared by the vendors daily. But be sure of the time first before getting down from the train.

Order it from online sources:

Now, if you are on a journey where you won’t get much of a halt, then you can download food ordering apps in your smartphones. Here, you have the opportunity to pre-order your food even while you are on the train. You have to order for the food a few hours before and give the restaurants some time to cook it for you. When the train reaches your destination, the delivery boy will bring the food to your seat.

First of all, download the app from Apple Store or Google Play Store. After that, select the route you are taking and the station from where you want to grab a bite.

Next steps for you:

Once you have selected the station, you will get a list of restaurants happy to deliver food to you. Each one will show you a list of their individual menu. Select the food you want and the quantity as well. Once done, it is time to pay for the food you have selected. You can either pay it online or just wait for the delivery boy to get the food to you. Then you can pay him. Mention the train number, your seat number details and everything as asked.
