Homemade Sizzler Brownie Recipe
Prep and cook time: 45 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
For the brownie:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the sizzle
- 1/4 cup (60g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
For the toppings:
- Ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Chocolate sauce
- Chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- While the brownie is baking, make the sizzle. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sugar dissolves.
- Let the sugar cool slightly, then drizzle it over the top of the warm brownie. The sugar will harden and crackle as it cools.
- Let the brownie cool completely in the pan, then cut into squares.
- To serve, place a brownie square on a preheated sizzler plate. Top with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and chopped nuts, if desired.
