Here's How You Can Make Your Makeup Last Longer

by Veena Prasade Beauty Expert

Oh, the pain of frequent touch ups! One of way of ensuring your makeup masterpiece lasts long is by opting for products that set your makeup in place. Such products include compact powders, setting mists, etc. Pair them with easy hacks, and your makeup is sure to last all day!

But even after following many beauty tips, if you find your eye makeup fading away or your lipstick disappearing after lunch, then something is amiss. Want to make your makeup last longer? Here’s how!

Invest In Quality Makeup

Good quality face makeup products is more pigmented, provides more coverage, and leaves a lasting glow. If you buy cheap makeup to save money, you’ll be left reapplying it throughout the day and thus wasting makeup. Better to put on high-quality makeup once in the morning and watch it last all day.

Use A Primer For Your Face And Eyes

A coat of primer acts as a layer between your face and the makeup. Makeup sticks to the primer and thus makes it last longer. People often skip applying primer to the eyes, but it’s super important as it blurs fine lines around the eyes. Eyeshadows don’t last on oily eyelid, thus using a primer is the only solution here.

Use Brow Gel And Waterproof Eyeliner

If you’re obsessed with Cara Delevingne’s bushy eyebrows and have mastered the art of thick feathery brows, it’s a pain when they fade away too soon. Sweat and humidity are the ones to blame. You can use a brow gel to keep those eyebrows in place. When it comes to eyeliners and mascaras, use waterproof ones as they tend to last all day.

Prep Your Lips With A Balm And Concealer

The first thing to fade away is always lipstick. Even if you have a long stay matte lipstick on, it can’t withstand oily food. But you can make that lipstick stay longer if you exfoliate and moisturize your lips before applying lipstick. Outlining your lips with some concealer holds the lipstick in place and prevents it from bleeding from the sides.

Apply Concealer After Foundation

If you apply foundation after the concealer, it will spread the concealer which will need a touch-up later in the day. It’s better to first apply the foundation and then dab in some concealer over the dark circles and blemishes. Blending the concealer in well makes sure that everything stays put.

Go For Liquid Blush And Highlighter

While powdered highlighter and blush can fade away, liquid and creamy products tend to stick on longer. For blush, go for cheek tints as they’re pigmented, add deep colour to your cheeks, and stay on your skin longer. The trick to make highlighter last is to apply some creamy highlighter first and then finish it with highlighter powder for a 3D look.

Seal The Deal With A Setting Powder

Applying a translucent powder after the makeup makes sure all the liquid products stay in place. This evens out any creases and fine lines and makes your face appear smoother. A little powder under the eyes, on the nose, forehead, and the chin sets your makeup in. It also reduces shine on the face caused due to excess oil.

These hacks are going to lock that gorgeous makeup in. But any amount of compact powder or translucent powder is not going to make your makeup stay in place if you keep touching it all day. Apart from smudging your makeup, this leads to breakouts and blemishes since your fingers have oil and bacteria on them. So hands off!
