Hen Party What’s in Your Purse

by Abhinav G. Movie Enthusiast

Introduction

Almost all women carry either a purse or a hand bag, or at the very least – a few necessities in their pockets. In this game, every guest at the Hen Do will compare the content’s of each others purses, and see what unexpected things with show up! This game isn’t quiet as simple as it sounds though – so read on to find out how to play “What’s in Your Purse”.

Preparation

Before the Hen Party Game, it’s important that you create a list of typical things you’d expect to find within a purse or handbag. Things such as makeup, pens and pencils, mobile phones, a torch, keys, jewellery, calculator (some people do!), a book – or anything else that you might have in your own.

With this list of items, assign a points value to each one, based on how common/popular you think the item might be. For example, you’d look to give 2 points for a set of keys, as this is something everyone would carry. For less common items such as a torch, you’d assign 10 points. Put this list in order of most points to least points and have it ready for when the game begins. You’ll need to make enough copies of this list to pass around the guests. Alternatively, you could put this onto a large piece of paper and hang it on a wall at the start of the game.

How to Play

  • Ask all the Hen Party Guests to sit in a circle with their purses or handbags on their laps.
  • Pass out the point scoring list that you made earlier to each guest.
  • When everyone is ready, ask them to go through their purses/handbags and remove any item they can find on your list. Tell them to place this in front of them.
  • When everyone is finished – count up the score and see who has the most points. This person can either be the winner or the loser – depending on how you view someone that carries so many things around with them!
  • Once the winner/loser is declared – go round each of the guests and ask them to show anything extra that’s left in their purses/handbags. This step is for comedy value more than anything else – as it’ll show some of the unusual things some of your guests have felt the need to bring to the Hen Party.

This Hen Party Game can also be used to trigger other games for the rest of the evening. You could make the guests use every item they collected points for, and assign a penalty or dare for anything they don’t use!
