• At a Bar: When you finish eating and drinking at a bar, simply put your bowl & glass up and wipe down the counter with a damp towel.
• Water is safe to drink in Japan: Both tap and bottled water is safe to drink in Japan. You can refill the bottle with pure water at any public fountain without worry.
• Paying your bill at restaurants: At a restaurant after finishing the meal, you need to cross your fingers together to form an ‘X', this will indicate the waiter to come and collect the payment.
• Do not point out your finger: when
you want to point towards someone or something; then do it with an open
hand. Avoid pointing with your finger or forefinger as it is considered
to be rude.
• Keep yourself away from tipping anyone: Tipping is unacceptable in Japan, so do not tip anyone, not even to the waiters.

Time limit of public transportation: In Japan, public transportation is
available till midnight and resumes at 5 am in the morning.

Taking photos: Please take photos only in the areas where there is
permission for photography. Never take photos inside temples.

Visiting Japanese temples: Throw a coin into the offering box and fold
your hands for praying. When burning incense, you should wave your hand
to extinguish the flame but do not blow it. Remember to take off your
shoes before entering a shrine or temple.

Receiving a visiting card: Be sure to examine the visiting card with
pleasure and carefully place it in your wallet; avoid shoving the
visiting card in your back pocket.
