Google Cancels out Deal with Android One In India

Google still firm headed with digital projects in India but cancels out on Android One.

Previously when the tech giant, Google Inc. announced a deal with an Indian company in order to promote its goal of digital projects, Android One, it created enough buzz in the tech industry there. That meant that low-cost companies from India, which includes Spice, Micromax and Karbonn would be required to provide $100 smartphones which strictly adhered to a standardized, Google-mandated spec sheet.

This meant that the Android OS, specified by Google would be the one and only to eventually rule the phone landscape in India, which accumulates a total population to more than a billion, who would eventually be using an economical Google-powered phone solely.

Not only this, but according to Google news, the tech giant earlier entered into a strategic partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to opt for digital projects in India. The alliance will help Google lead huge e-governance projects, as well as boost the sale of its cloud-based service in the region.

The rich client relationship of PwC along with the vast experience of Google in technology, thus ensuring that this will surely be a good duo to help more Indian firms to utilize these services and stay in line with the technological progress globally.

PwC has a team of 30 members to oversee these projects. According to Amab Basu, a Technology Partner of PwC India, the alliance holds greater importance for PwC as it will enable the company to develop industry-specific solutions along with Google. Moreover, PwC is also adopting an “All Google” philosophy, through which it will confirm that all organizational members are using Google’s products.

He also mentioned that PwC has already started implementing these solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in India. PwC seeks to extend the parameters of these services from public sector companies and government institutions to financial services, healthcare and other companies in retail service.

Although Google has a strong foothold when it comes to providing service to the small and medium-sized businesses in India yet faces some difficulties in engaging large corporations, as its rival Microsoft had already penetrated.

Both the rival companies are seeking to be the ones that will transform India into a connected economy while improving the trade position of the country and creating jobs for millions of people. As far as its current projects are concerned in the country, Google has collaborated with the Indian government in programs such as MyGov, which is a platform for people of India to come and develop their own apps.
