Gmail users can choose to forward some or all of their Gmail messages forwarded to another email service by changing the settings in the following ways:
· In the top right corner in Gmail, the settings gear is available. This icon is to be clicked to open.
· Now the user needs to click on the forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
· In the forwarding option, the “Add a forwarding address” is to be opened.
· The email address where the messages in the Gmail is to be forwarded is to be typed.
· The user now needs to click “Next”, “Proceed”, and “OK” options consecutively.
· A confirmation mail will be sent to the other email address. The user needs to click the verification link in that message.
· In Forwarding option in Gmail settings, the user needs to select the option “Forwarding a copy of incoming mail to” and chose “Keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox”.
· By clicking the “Save Changes”, the user needs to close the settings option.
Gmail Pop/IMAP settings
Proper POP/IMAP settings are required for reading Gmail messages in other email clients. IMAP helps to sync Gmail messages in real time, thus the user can read these messages from all the synced devices simultaneously. Following changes in settings is required or Gmail technical support number can be taken to change the settings accordingly:
· The user needs to access Gmail settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
· Here he needs to enable IMAP.
IMAP settings in the other email client
· Gmail IMAP server address: imap.gmail.com
· Gmail IMAP username: full Gmail address (e.g. "xyz@gmail.com")
· IMAP password: Your Gmail password
· Port: 993
· SSL/TLS: Checked
SMTP settings in the other email client requires the following changes
· Gmail IMAP server address: smtp.gmail.com
· Requires SSL: Yes
· Requires TLS: Yes (if available)
· Port for SSL: 465
· Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
