Get your car repaired properly & keep in good condition
If your car tyres are in poor condition then you can
find yourself on the side of the road. You can face a sudden blowout and end up
with a dangerous accident. So you should always check the tyres of your car so that it can protect you and your family. Keep
your tyres well maintained and in good condition, before you ride and drive the
car do not forget to check the inflation and other minute traits of tyre to
keep yourself protected on road.
In fact, professionals say that you can get as much as
50 percent more life out of your tyres if you maintain them as it should be.
Check if they are properly
inflated
It’s very important to ensure your tyres are well inflated. If they are
over-inflated, they generate excess heat as they move over the street. This can
create a flat tyre or weaken the tyres, making them more prone to being
punctured.
Similarly if your tyres are under-inflated, they’ll
take additional wear and tear. The center tread will wear out more rapidly than
that on tyres that are fully inflated, thus you’ll have to change them earlier
than normal. Some people accept it as true that an overinflated tyre rolls more
effortlessly, so increasing your gas mileage.
On the other hand, while you may see a slight fuel
economy increase, the more damage to your tyres
and the chance of having a flat tyre more than offset what little gain you
might get.
Importance of properly
checking their inflation
Remember that you can’t tell if your tyre is
under-inflated or over-inflated by just looking at it. You need to use a small
tyre pressure gauge to appropriately check the pressure. You may find the air
pumps at most gas stations may be imperfectly calibrated. You shouldn’t trust
them to provide you a true reading. You also need to know what the true
pressure for your car is. You can generally find this information in either
your car’s owner’s handbook or on the tyre sticker found on the motorist’s side
door.
When should you check your
tyres?
If you check your tyre’s air pressure after you’ve
driven on them, you won’t get an accurate reading. When the air inside the
tyres is heated from being driven on, it swells. This, in order, increases the
tyre pressure and results in an improper reading. The best time to check the
pressure is when the tyre is cold or
when it has been driven less than a mile.
Be sure to have your wheels
aligned
