What are Sunpix awards?

The Pacific Community Leadership, Pacific Education, Pacific Enterprise, Pacific Emerging Leadership Award, Pacific Health and Wellbeing, and Pacific Service Excellence SunPix Awards honour outstanding people in these six award categories.

The 2022 Awards' Platinum Sponsor is the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE). With special appreciation to our Pacific Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) employees, we acknowledge the assistance that Pacific communities provided as part of New Zealand's COVID-19 response. The mission of MBIE is to "Grow New Zealand for All." We are in charge of the government's economic priorities and help to implement Lalanga Fou, the strategy for the entire government's wellbeing in the Pacific.

SunPix was built on the Fa'aaloalo, Fa'atasiga, and Fa'amaoni values of the Pacific Islands. We have experience creating material with high production values that can be used on numerous platforms. With independent Pacific freelancers, directors, journalists, and creatives across Aotearoa and the surrounding area, SunPix has wide networks. Along with the growing NZ-born Pacific population, the corporation has strong relationships to the Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands, Niue, Fiji, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Rotuma, and Kiribati communities. When we were chosen to carry on Tagata Pasifika's heritage, we were ecstatic. It is a privilege.

This honour recognises a company that, through its work, significantly benefits Pacific Islander communities. This category honours efforts, projects, or programmes that assist Pacific Islander families and communities. Governmental organisations and non-profit businesses that have outstanding programmes and services especially created and specialised for Pacific populations in New Zealand are nominated in this category.
