Gem of our hearts
by Lara Peake DesignersMOTHERS deserve to be saluted for their undying love and dedication towards their children, said jewellery designer Amee Philips.
In conjunction with the upcoming Mother’s Day, Philips together with the jewellery company that bears her name organised a high tea for about 40 guests at the Macalister Mansion in George Town, Penang, on Saturday.
“As a mother I can relate to the present challenges where children are exposed to the fast-paced world earlier.
“There is a need to bring them up at par with the societies’ demands and the want to bring them up the old-fashioned way like we were brought up.
“This a tribute to mothers, they always want the best for their children and go the extra length for them,” said the mother of four.
The guests attended the ‘Hats Off to Mothers’-themed high tea session wearing hats.
Some mothers came in elaborate hats with flowers while others got creative and came in whimsicalpieces featuring feathers, sequins and even polaroid pictures.
Philips said she chose the theme as she wanted the mothers to dress up and wear something special as well as the fact that the term stood for bowing in respect for mothers.
Jewellery pieces from her newcollection ‘Cocoon’ which featured exquisite butterfly brooches with jadeite, diamonds and other precious gemstones as well as pieces from her other collections were also displayed for guests to buy.
Guests tucked into delectable food and sipped sparkling wine while they watched models showcasing the jewellery pieces while dressed in fashion designer Aden Yong’scollection of gowns and jumpsuit.
Two guests with the best hats were presented with prizes comprising a pair of jade earrings worth RM12,000 and a blue topaz pendant worth RM4,000.Read more at:cheap formal dresses
