Future Prospects of Forensic Science
Forensic science is a
field that attracts many students worldwide. It is a study that mainly deals
with the combination of science with criminal justice. Before we proceed
further it is important to answer a very basic question, “What is Forensic Science?” Forensic Science can be defined as the
application of scientific knowledge and methodology in the court of law. It clinches
all branches of science applied for the purpose of law and justice. Originally,
all the techniques were borrowed, from various scientific disciplines like
chemistry, medicine, biology, photography, physics, and mathematics.
Nonetheless, in recent years it has developed not only its own techniques but
also its own branches, which are more or less exclusive domains of forensic
science. The two major peculiarities of forensic science is that it is
multidisciplinary as well as multi-professional.
Due to the exponential
increase in the crime rate, it is a widespread need for the application of
forensic science in the criminal justice system. Thereby, the scope of forensic
science is vast. A reputed institution like SGT University proudly offers
graduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in forensic science. These courses
will help you to improvise your skills and brush up your knowledge. During the
admission and counseling sessions, queries related to jobs, and future prospects
of this field are commonly asked by the students as well as their parents. I
would like to put some light on it through this platform.
It is a common perception among students and parents that forensic science does not have a scope
in India. This is a MYTH! Like any
other field of science, forensic science does have a lot of scope in India. In
fact, it has a larger area of scope as compared to some other courses in
science. The job opportunities in this field are endless. Various government
and private sectors are open to students with graduate, postgraduate, and
doctoral degrees in forensic science. Some of the organizations which take up
students with degrees in forensic science are listed as follows:
·

This list is not
limited to these organizations only. There are plenty of other organizations that
welcome students with a degree in forensic science to work with them. It is
high time to focus on courses that open job prospects in a wide diversity of
organizations rather than going for typical courses with limited jobs in a
specific number of organizations. Apart from getting into these organizations,
various forensic scientists emerge as entrepreneurs and freelancers doing
private practice for various types of civil and criminal cases. Therefore, the
field of forensic science is flourishing and is need of the hour which
ascertains that getting into this course would provide you a successful career
and life.
