Future of Biogas Generation and Purification in India

by Vivaan Pathak Manager
Today, we are all looking for alternatives of energy. Biogas, a renewable energy, can be generated and supplied round the clock. Biogas purifier plants in India are getting exponentially popular and are being promoted by the Indian government as well.

How Biogas is formed?
Biogas is formed from the fermentation of organic waste like cattle dung, kitchen waste, agricultural waste and poultry droppings among others.

Chemical Composition of Biogas
Biogas consists mainly of Methane (60-65%), Carbon Di-oxide (35-40%), Hydrogen Sulphide (0.5-1.0%) and rest of water vapors etc. It is non toxic, colorless and flammable gas.

Present structure and way of using Biogas
Earlier this concept of biogas was not so popular because it contains combination of various gases and it was not transportable because of its gaseous property, but now with the help of technology, various purifier biogas plants in India have been established. These plants are used for biogas bottling. The term used for this is compressed biogas (CBG) which decided the quality of CNG.

Today government is also providing various subsidies to promote the generation and purification of biogas. There are many companies like Atmos Power which are providing biogas purifying services in India. With the help of technology they can transform the biogas plant to a bio CNG plant.

Methods used in purifier biogas plant in India -
  1. Water washing
  2. Pure Swing adsorption
  3. Selexol adsorption
  4. Amine gas treating

Biogas is strongly making its place as an alternative source of renewable energy. Presently when the world is on the edge of facing crisis of fuels, these biogas plants in Indiawill help our nation to deal with it as this is economical as well as renewable. Indian economy is an agricultural economy, so by establishing more biogas to CNG plants, we can not only fulfill the need of energy, but also save the environment.

If we talk about the future of purifier biogas plants in India,we can see a very bright future ahead as this gas can be used as energy source for various applications like cooking, electricity generation, gaseous fuel for vehicles, space cooling, refrigeration, heating and many more. In next five years, biogas to Bio CNG plant will come up as one of major alternate source of energy. Companies like Atmos power that provide such services are not only helping in establishing purifier biogas plants in India but are also contributing in saving the environment.
