Fresno, CA and the surrounding area saw multiple auto accidents in the past month, including:

A 55-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Fresno on Sunday just before 7 PM while crossing East Clinton Avenue, west of North Cedar Avenue, to go home. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.

At least one person was injured on Thursday when a 37-year-old man flipped a car on East Ashlan Avenue west of North Blackstone Avenue. The vehicle, traveling at a high speed, collided with a pickup pulling a trailer, then struck a Honda, injuring someone in the Honda. The 37-year-old fled the scene, was arrested and faces charges of felony hit and run as well as, possibly, driving under the influence.

A 47-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Fresno on October 18. The man was crossing the street in his wheelchair at the Highway 99 onramp at Olive Avenue in Fresno when a dark-colored Mitsubishi struck and killed him, then fled the scene.

A 48-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Fresno on October 16. The man was crossing First Street near Ashlan Avenue when an older red truck traveling northbound on First Street struck the man, killing him, then fled the scene.

A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing the road in Fresno County on October 16. The driver stayed to call for help and the woman died at the scene.

One person was badly hurt in an accident on October 12 around 6 AM on Olive Avenue at Sunnyside in Fresno. The driver was injured and the passenger was pinned in the vehicle. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to extract the passenger from the vehicle, who was taken to CRMC in critical condition. A big rig driver stopped at a stop sign then pulled out into the path of an oncoming car, and CHP said the car’s driver may have been distracted since he hit the side of the tank trailer without applying his brakes.

A 41-year-old woman was killed in a two vehicle collision west of Fresno on October 8 at the intersection of McKinley and Garfield. CHP said the woman failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the path of a Dodge Caravan traveling at 55 MPH. The front end of the Caravan collided with the woman’s driver’s side door. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested after an accident on October 4 which killed her 21-year-old passenger. CHP said the woman was on Highway 41 and missed the transition to Highway 180, attempted the transition unsafely, struck the center divider and overturned in the northbound lane. CHP determined the driver was drunk. CHP believed neither woman was wearing seat belts.

A 24-year-old man jumped out into Golden State Boulevard in Fresno County and was struck and killed on October 3. The man had gotten his car stuck after trying to turn across an embankment, left his vehicle and walked toward the road.

A Fresno County sheriff’s deputy collided with an ambulance in southwest Fresno on October 3 at around 10:30 PM while responding to a service call. Nobody suffered major injuries.
