Five-fold growth in solar panels on commercial buildings

by Commonwealth Electrical Technologies Electrical Construction Services throughout New En

Commercial solar panel industry has witnessed unprecedented growth over the last couple of years. In fact, commercial solar panel demand has increased by five fold since 2015! So, what has led to this upsurge in demand? Let’s find out.

Cost of solar power

On the one hand, utility prices have skyrocketed, and these price hikes may most likely continue in coming years due to under-investment in electricity infrastructure and networks, rising fuel prices for generators, and other factors. And on the other hand, the cost of solar power has dropped significantly. Not only is installing these panels more affordable than it had been in the past, but solar panel maintenance costs are also very low today. In this highly competitive world, when businesses and industries are facing the challenge of rising utility prices frequently, commercial solar panels represents an effective opportunity for them to directly reduce their energy prices. As demand for solar services has increased, so has the supply of retailers and installers, keeping prices down.

The case of rebate

On top of the low cost, government incentives have been designed specially to make the ownership of solar panels affordable. And those incentives are scheduled to reduce after 2019 and fall in ensuing years until it is no longer offered, thus spurring action now before the incentives expire.

Considering the low cost of installation and various government rebates on commercial solar panels, it’s only apparent why they have enjoyed a five-fold growth in the commercial landscape.
