Five ways to get your bathroom ready for your guests

Many people seem to lose all their basic understanding of decorating when it comes to the bathroom. Being the smallest room in the home, it is often treated like an afterthought. In reality, decorating a bathroom should be treated no differently than decorating any other room.

Well, then… how do you make your bathroom more beautiful and welcoming for you and your guests? Here are five easy, low-cost bathroom decorating ideas that might come in handy.

Design your bathroom around your shower curtain.

The biggest design element in a bathroom is most often the shower curtains. They hang from floor to ceiling and span several feet – they look more like a fifth wall than a design element really. This is the reason why a shower curtain provides an excellent opportunity to start a theme as a highlighted point in your room. You could think of your shower curtain as a canvas that will display your decorating concept and define the entire bathroom. Doing it right can help your bathroom look bigger and brighter! Besides, have you ever seen a bathroom design themed around the shower curtain and didn’t like it? We haven’t either!

Add chic accent pieces.

A good focal point to start with may very well be the shower curtain, but it will never make the room complete without accents that make it stand out and easy to enjoy. A cozy bathroom rug set to tie the space together, some counter decorations for the extra oomph and a whole host of decorative towels can add charming touches to any bathroom. You can also consider using potted plants in the bathroom to soften up the aesthetics.

Be careful not to choose fittings that are too bold.

Too many bold design elements can wreck the otherwise timeless and tranquil ambiance of a space – this is befitting in both residential and commercial interior design. So, the style of fittings in your bathroom should be classic and elegant, rather than bold and quirky. No fancy showerheads and no gold taps – they have no place in your minimalist modern bathroom.  And if you think simple equates dull, you’re wrong. There's no such thing as boring when there's minimalist, elegant bathroom fittings involved.

Keep the color scheme simple.

When it comes to home remodeling in Austin, TX, keeping a simple color palette is important. The bolder the shades the sooner the room will start to look dated and the sooner you will have to face the job all over again. Classic pastel shades are so much easier on the eyes and they’re also a lot easier to decorate the space around. A space that’s both serene and sophisticated – this is what you get when you keep it simple.

Don’t overlook the lighting.

Is your bathroom lighting modernized? Though this might call for an electrician, it's a great way to give your bathroom a radiant, fresh look. Even something as simple as adding a new set of lights over the vanity can often make a big difference in your bathroom’s aesthetic appeal! Illuminating the right spots really does add some drama to the space.

So there you have it, some easy bathroom decorating ideas you can complete in a weekend without having to take out a home equity loan.
