I have taken a couple of days this week to relax and take a break from things. I do this from time to time for a few reasons: 1.) It gives me a chance to focus on living life and not working 24/7. 2.) It gives me time to reflect on the results I am getting from my efforts. 3.) It gives me time to think of new ideas for the future.
This week the weather was nice so I went fishing quite a bit. While I was fishing I started to realize that I was using techniques that I use in network marketing to get the best results. The bullet points below explain the the things that are similar between fishing and building a business.
- Picking the spot to start fishing is like picking the business you would like to be involved with. You should always pick where you go by the knowledge you have of the location/business.
- Don't expect to catch a fish on your first cast and don't expect to make a million dollars as soon as you start you business. You have to stay in your location for a given period of time in order for your actions to show results. If you constantly move from one location to another you might get a bite here and there but not even a nibble is guaranteed.
- If you are not getting the results that you are looking for try a different approach. When fishing you can always change the lure, weight, and depth you would like to use so the odds are in your favor. In business you have even more options when it comes to marketing, how to market, your target market, etc. It takes different bait to catch different fish and it takes different strategies to bring in different types of affiliates.
- If the fish aren't biting, don't get frustrated. You know the fish are there so take a break or come back another day. There are millions of people looking for business opportunities. Don't let the "slow days" bring you down. Take a break or take a whole day off. You know the people are there and tomorrow is another chance to reach them.
My goal with this is to help motivate anyone that I can and to have them give this some thought whether they are new to business or a 10 year veteran that is getting burned out.
