FINDING THE RIGHT FIT RUNNING SHOE
1. Type of runner your are: you can run on road, running track,
mountain road, or forest trail. Different surface needs different types of
shoes, differentiation is in heels of shoes, weight and sole of the shoe.
2.
Your foot pronation type: Shoe
has to be chosen according to your pronation type or the style by which your
foot rolls when you walk. Each shoe in the market is suitable for a particular
pronation type and when you wear wrong one, you cannot feel comfortable while
running.
3.
Length of the shoe: Select a
proper size of shoe keeping in mind that more you run, more space your foot
need. So make sure there is a thumb’s width of space between your youngest toe
and the end of the shoe. You toes should also wiggle freely up and down. You
can feel this while having a trial before buying a shoe.
4.
Width of the shoe: The width of
a shoe is as important as length, to make a comfortable run for you. You foot
should not be exact fitting but it should be able to move side-by-side in the
shoe’s forefoot without crossing over the edge of the insole.
5.
Heel of the shoe: Your heel
should fit snug, but not tight, i.e., "Laced up (but not tied), you should
be able to slide your feet out." There will be some heel movement, but it
shouldn't be uncomfortable.
6.
Weight: Weight here refers
weight of shoe, and weight of the runner. Both factors act an important role in
running. The more you run the lighter weighted shoe you will need to make a
lighter feel while running. If your weight is more, you would need more
supports in the shoe and hence you will need high weighted shoe.
7. Try out with socks: While selecting your running shoe, try wearing
the shoe with running socks to give to exact fitting. There is wide range of
running socks available in any store. Chose a socks which will make you feel
comfortable and support your shoes perfectly
