Electric Vehicles are taking over the automobile market as it has emerged as a sustainable mode of transport due to high pollution levels and for the betterment of society. The government of the National Capital Territory launched Switch Delhi Campaign in 2020 to make Delhi the EV capital of India. This campaign aims to create mass awareness among the citizen to make a shift from their conventional vehicles to electric vehicles. EVs have no tailpipe emissions and are low maintenance as compared to petrol or diesel vehicles. Delhi Government EV Policy is considered one of the most progressive policies globally. Under the policy, the government has offered subsidies on an electric vehicle worth Rs. 100 Crore and has also waived off road tax and registration fees.


In Delhi, around 42% of vehicular pollution is caused by two and three-wheelers of vehicles which is by transitioning these vehicles to electric vehicles is crucial for reducing pollution levels. The Government has collaborated with DISCOMs to launch a single-window facility for the setting up of EV charging stations in the national capital. By visiting the Tata Power-DDL EV portal a consumer can avail a charging pointThe installation will be completed within seven working days after the submission of the request. Delhi Government EV Scheme is considered one of the most progressive electric vehicle policies.

By 2024, the government aims to achieve 25 percent electric vehicles among total vehicle registrations. Besides, the focus is also to create an ecosystem of electric vehicle charging stations. To date, Delhi has 2,000 charging stations and the aim is to make station points available in a radius of every three kilometers.

To support the urban mode of transport, Tata Power-DDL is supporting the vision of promoting EVs. Tata Power-DDL has impaneled 12 vendors for the installation of EV charging stations. The shift towards zero-emissions electric vehicles would play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Tata Power-DDL believes in the betterment of society and the promotion of EVs is one of the major goals considering the growing air pollution levels.
