Fighting Cancer – the theme at Bitotsav 2016.
Bitotsav the annual socio cultural festival of Birla
Institute of Technology, (BIT) Mesra considered to be one of the biggest campus
and youth festival of Eastern India was held in Ranchi recently. The 4 days mega
event is one of the most awaited events for the youths of the region and beyond
and is nothing less than a carnival. The theme for this year’s festival was to
promote one of the most vital social cause of the era – Fighting Cancer. The
social cause was taken up with the objective of creating awareness, reducing
fear and stigma attached with cancer. Most of the events associated with the
festival were also designed such as to connect with the cause and on the basis
of the support towards fighting cancer.
The 4 days of the mega event witnessed plethora of competitions
happening - solo singing, poetry writing, monologues, debates, brain storming
sessions, Eco business quiz; beauty pageants walking the ramp followed by musical
nights in the evening and performances by popular bands of the country like
Girish and The Chronicles; The Local Train and Bollywood playback star Mohit
Chauhan rocking the campus with his romantic voice and foot tapping melodies.
Students from various colleges like NIT Rourkela, NIT Jamshedpur, St. Xavier’s
Kolkata etc from nearby states of Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, N. East
apart cities in Jharkhand participated in the festival.
The four day exhilarating
extravaganza of BITOTSAV 2016 was sponsored by Times of India along with other
brands. Premiere business school of Delhi, FORE School of Management, was also
a partner.
BIT Mesra was established in
the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi and elevated to the status of a deemed
university. The main campus at Mesra is a wholly residential campus while
extension centers were established in several regions Jaipur, Noida, Kolkata,
Patna, Deoghar as well as offshore centres in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE and Muscat,
Oman.
