FIFA 14 Ultimate Team TOTY Goalkeeper Nomination List

On January 13th 2014, the Team Of The Year of FIFA 14 Ultimate Team will be announced. The TOTY is for the best players in this year all over the world. Now let’s see who are on the GK nomination list.

There’re five goalkeepers are nominated by 2013 FIFA FIFPro World XI:
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy, Juventus)
Iker Casillas (Spain, Real Madrid CF)
Petr Cech (Czech Republic, Chelsea FC)
Manuel Neuer (Germany, FC Bayern Munchen)
Victor Valdes (Spain, FC Barcelona)

Compared to the 2012 shortlist, there’re four goalkeepers who also appear in the 2013 list, only Joe Hart has failed and been replaced by Victor Valdes.

Gianluigi Buffon was born in 28 January 1978 in Carrara, Italy. As the captains of both Juventus and Italian national team, he is the record appearance holder for the national team. Because of his outstanding shot-stopping, he is considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers all the time. This is his eighth appearance in the shortlist, although he’ll be 36 next January. In real world his value is 7.5m euro and in FIFA 14 he costs 10k FIFA 14 UT coins.

Iker Casillas was born in 20 May 1981 in Mostoles, Spain. He plays for and also captains of both Real Madrid and the Spanish national team. He has been selected in the World XI for consecutive 6 years. But different from before, this year he has to try hard to retain his place. No matter who is the coach of Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti, he can’t keep regular appearance. Petr Cech was born in 20 May 1982. He plays now for Chelsea FC and Czech Republic national team. Cech holds the Premier League record for fewest appearances required to reach 100 clean sheets. Manuel Neuer is the youngest one of the 5 goalkeepers. He is 27 and now plays for FC Bayern Munchen. He is known for his reflexes, excellent shot stopping abilities and distribution of the ball. His performance helped Bayern to win UEFA Champions League glory, Bundesliga title and German Cup.

Victor Valdes is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Barcelona’s history. Now he is the club record holder as goalkeeper with most appearances in the league and in official competition. However, his unstable status makes him to be a controversial candidate of the TOTY goalkeeper. His contract will be expired in summer 2014 and he decides to move to another team. That will be the end of his 22 years Barcelona career.
