Image Most often, when society think of feminism their general image and response is "oh they are just angry men hating women that are lesbians who never shave." This is not true at all. Before taking a Women's Studies class this semester, I actually thought the same thing about feminists myself. I only knew what the media portrayed them as, which were big, big, hairy, ugly women that hated men. Little did I know that feminism actually represented equality between both women and men and everything in between. Soon I realized that not only did I know now what feminism was but in fact that I am a feminist myself. I would like to think that I am not a big, hairy, ugly woman so these false stereotypes of feminists need to go away so that the real goal of equality rises within our community and we ,as a whole, can actually do something about it and create change. More stereotypes that are often used are that that we hate men, we're all lesbians, we're angry all the time, feminists can't be funny, and the false notion that we already are equal to men, etc. I really hope that one day we won't have rape against women, a gender wage gap, and anything else that goes against women solely based on their gender being inferior when compared to men.
