Get a whole lot of actors with impeccable comic timing, throw in a sensible and funny plot, add to these some epic dialogues and there you have the recipe for creating comedy gold! The 2001 film Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa followed this recipe religiously and passed the test of audience approval with flying colours. Boasting an ensemble cast consisting of Govinda, Juhi Chawla, Johnny Lever, Tabu, Chandrachur Singh, Vinay Anand and Isha Koppikar in the leading roles, this film was not only a laugh riot but also a glimpse into how the fates of a lot of families would change for the better if the women were allowed an equal say in household matters. A good 17 years have passed since the release of this movie, and the dialogues crack you up the same even today. Today, let's take a look at some of the film's most popular dialogues mouthed by these powerhouse performers.

Govinda

Our favourite comedy star Govinda turned in a class act in Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa as Bhimsha or Sajanwa, as he is lovingly called by his wife. He played the role of a "house-husband" who had no qualms about doing all the household chores while his wife played the role of the breadwinner in the family. Govinda, in his inimitable style, delivered these dialogues that have become hugely popular over the years.

  • "Pehle toh kisi ko chhedo nahi ... aur koi tumko chhede toh usko chhodo nahi"

  • "Abhe sadhe huye aam ki gutli ... bagair chai ki ketli ... paan ki potli ... bagair aankh ki putli"

  • "Hum pehle mulaqat karte hai ... phir pyar ki barsaat karte hai, phoolon ki barsaat karte hai ... uske baad hum mukka laat karte hai"

  • "Aap jis school ki KG mein padh rahe hai na ... hum uske principal reh chuke hai."

Juhi Chawla

The vivacious and spunky Juhi was the real star of the film as Jhumri, a modern working woman and the wife of Bhimsha. She lit up the screen with her flawless comic timing and cute chemistry with Govinda. It's really a shame that she got so little screen time in this multi-starrer. Even then, she managed to mouth this iconic dialogue "Hum hai dui-dhari talwar ... aaisan karenge vaar ... zindagi kar denge tohri bekaar" with such aura that we can't help but remember it.

Johnny Lever

This film wouldn't have turned out to be as good without the main man of Indian comedy, Johnny Lever. This comic veteran played the role of a chauvinistic and out-of-work mechanic called Appu Khote in such a way that audiences couldn't help but laugh at his antics. Here are some of the most famous dialogues delivered by Johnny Lever in the movie.

  • "Yeh malum hona chahiye ki mard kab peeta hai, kya peeta hai, kaise peeta hai ... yeh jaankari rakhna Bharatiya naari ka sabse important duty hai"

  • "Duniya yeh gol hai, andhar se hole hai, rupaiya ka mol hai, baki sab jhol hai ... income ho unda toh patni maare danda ... jeevan ki gaadi bhanvar mein hai, bada problem hai bhaiya ... kyun ki aamdani atthani, kharcha rupaiya"
