The unsurpassed, beautiful landscapes of India engage in for some thrilling trekking experiences. Trekking in India is breathtaking. There are various treks along the northern, southern, western and eastern regions of India. The northern treks embody the beautiful Ladakh treks. The routes differ along the ranges as chosen. Some are considered to be difficult and some are moderate and easy. The marvels of nature captured along these routes are way too fascinating to the eye of the traveler. Across the green meadows and the beautiful lakes, amidst the small tribal villages, through the oak forests, the treks provide a magical experience along with the much wanted adventure.

Ladakh is considered to be the paradise of adventure. It is the place for every mountaineers delight. Apart from mountain climbing, hiking, water rafting, etc., trekking in Ladakh is an enchanting experience. This land of high passes is situated in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, at an altitude of 2750 – 7672 metres, above sea level. It is among the world’s highest inhabited plateaus. This place is globally considered to provide one of the best trekking experiences across the world. It has an interesting topography. The region comprises of hilly terrains, rocky cliffs, rich and abundant grasslands and high altitude peaks.

The popular mountain ranges are, the Karakoram, Zanskar and Ladakh Ranges. The most famous is the Stok Khangri (6,150 mtrs.), that is easily accessible and the Zangskar trek is one of the most difficult trek. This trek is over the frozen River Zanskar. The river becomes a thick sheet of ice during the winters. This region also records the lowest temperatures, which makes it one of the most exciting high altitude treks in the world. Trekking in Ladakh also renders unique ancient monasteries, hidden valleys, wildlife, hidden waterfalls and ridges, fresh water springs, streams and wetlands, and so on. However, the most famous lakes of this land are, the Tsomoriri, Tsokar and the Pangong Lake. Other treks in Ladakh include the Markha Valley Trek, the Nubra Valley Trek, the Nun and Kun Trek, etc. The Markha valley trek is a difficult range. It comprises of varied landscapes, some are rough, barren lands, while other areas are lush greenlands. During the winters, the area is completely covered in snow giving a breathtaking picturesque. The Nubra valley trek region was once the gateway to the ancient silk route. This trek is less visited, hence the beauty is untouched and unspoiled. This route gives a stunning view of the Karakoram ranges. The Nun and Kun Trek is recommended for the experienced climbers only. It is situated in the greater Himalayan range. Nun is at an altitude of 7,135 meters and Kun at 23,213 feet, which is the highest.
