Pushkar is one of the five sacred dhams or pilgrimage sites for devout Hindus. One of the oldest cities of India, it lies on the shore of the sacred Pushkar Lake. It is well-known for its annual fair called ‘Pushkar Fair’ held every during the Indian calendar month of Kartik. A huge camel and cattle fair also takes place on the sidelines of this annual gathering at Pushkar also called as Pushkar Camel Fair or the Pushkar mela by the locals.
