One of the most common problems faced by travellers especially travelling in a hot climate is dehydration. The long hours of travelling under the sun may affect your health and make you dehydrated and weak. To avoid this, you must follow the below-given tips that are easy to follow while staying at the popular hotels in Bhopal.

Few useful tips to beat dehydration

1. Carry water: The most valuable tip to beat dehydration is to drink adequate water throughout the day. If you are not sure about the water sources, you must carry filtered water or mineral water bottles wherever you go. In case you were unable to drink enough water while travelling, make sure you fill yourself up when you return back to the hotel.

2. Eat water-rich fruits: While travelling you might get several options to taste local cuisines in different varieties. If you dig on to a sumptuous meal during the day, try to compensate it with water-rich fruits like watermelon, berries, pineapple, cucumber etc. in the evening. These fruits will keep you hydrated while providing the necessary nutrients to your body.

3. Drink coconut water: Coconut water is the best option while travelling as it is filled with natural electrolytes and potassium that keeps you hydrated for long. In tropical weather conditions, coconut water is easily available and it tastes great too. You can get coconut water from the roadside vendors outside the hotels near Bhopal railway station.

4. Avoid aerated drinks: Make sure you avoid aerated drinks completely during travelling as they tend to lose more water from the body than you actually gain. They are great to have when you are thirsty but remember they are not doing any good and in fact destroying the water storage in your body. You can opt for juices and smoothies instead.

5. Avoid caffeine and alcohol: No matter how much you love your daily dose of coffee, it should be avoided while travelling to keep dehydration at bay. For the same reason, alcohol should be avoided too. In case you just can’t go away with caffeine or alcohol, make sure you limit their consumption.

6. Eat rice: Though rice is avoided due to many reasons, particularly if you are on diet or diabetic, in certain cases of dehydration, it might help. In hotter climates when your body loses the essential fluids through excessive sweat, consuming rice may help you retain water in the body.

Thus, with a little care and precaution, you can avoid dehydration from devastating your travel plans. The main mantra is to keep hydrated by whichever way possible. Maintaining a healthy diet and adequate consumption of water will keep you energized throughout the trip.
