Exceeding The Speed Limit - What Harm it Causes?

by James Spencer Blogger

Before starting, here's an interesting stat:

As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Australia, around 4,350 speed-related fatalities were recorded in the year 2011-12. According to findings approximately 435 motorcycle fatalities and many car crashes were also found.

Another key danger of over speeding is the impact it has on the environment. Despite the speed-limiters placed to reduce the environmental hazards of road traffic like emissions, vibrations and even vehicle noise pollution, people still tend to over-speed.

Example- Someone driving their vehicle at say 65 mph will consume around 15% of more fuel than one who is accelerating at 55 mph. And with more fuel burning, it also means more CO2 is released back into the atmosphere.

Look At Those Speed limit Dangers:

There are a lot of horrible things that can happen- the worst of them being dead (an overwhelming 29% of fatal accidents are due to over-speeding in Australia)!

Other possibilities:

  • Severe injuries ranging from minor-major cuts, bruises, to even life-changing injuries like being full to partial paralysis.
  • Damage to construction sites and crashes in worksites are at a whopping 31% due to over-speeding.
  • Potential threats at school zones for lives of teachers, parents, visitors and even the students moving around streets or roadways. The speed-limit for such regions is set to be 15-25mph mainly because young students tend to dart off into busy streets. Plus, they don’t possess the ability to judge the distance and speed of the approaching vehicle.

This has led to many children getting hit by speedily running cars near schools. Furthermore, since the speed of the car is one of the major contributors to how severe the kid’s injury could be- accelerating unnecessarily is the worse thing which can happen.

Taking Up Defensive Driving Training:

Believe it or not, over-speeding is the result of one’s ignorance or arrogance. It’s also a habit which many drivers have- driving too quick!

One way to curb their habit of driving too quick is getting more control both over their vehicle and themselves. Enrolling into a quality driving school in Newcastle could be an adequate way to become more proficient and relaxed behind the wheels.

  • They will have modern and dual controlled automatic and manual vehicles meant to create a safer environment.
  • They will have their well-experienced driving trainers accompanying the drivers in whatever they do. This even includes preventing them from exceeding the speed limit. And while they do so, they will even share the speed-limits for various regions only to make the learner more adept and knowledgeable.
  • Drivers having a tendency to drive rashly will be provided lectures on safety tips to abide when driving-especially in busy areas!
  • With their coaching, comprehensive quality driving lessons in Newcastle will also test the ability of the driver in specific areas and locations where driving requires more concentration and awareness.

Learners will also get a sound knowledge about all practising locations and areas to perfect their skills. With that, these schools will even conduct mock tests prepared to ready learners for the drive test.
