When we buy anything new, the level of excitement to wear it and flaunt it is so high. We very carefully chose what we want to buy before spending a bunch of money, re-access our options and then buy it.

So, when we go through all this pain and calculation to buy costume jewelry, it is important that we take care of it as well. So even though the care regime is extremely simple, it is still an important regime.

So here are a few basic things that you can do to make your jewelry last long:

1. Dry and Clean

If you want your jewellery to stay bright and shiny just like the costume jewelry manufacturers made it to be, keep it dry and keep it clean.

Apply all the cram and deodorant and make-up before you put on your jewelry and once you are done, clean it off before storing it back.

If you are wearing rings and bracelets, wash your hands after removing them. All these material cause tarnishing.

Also remove them once you are done using them. Do not sleep in your fashion studs or necklaces.

2. Occasional Use

If you buy a piece for daily use then it is a different story. But if it is intended for daily use, buy cheaper pieces because when they are worn every day, sunlight exposure, sweat and other things cause them to wear out so if they are cheap it won't pinch you that much.

If you are buying an expensive fashion piece then wear it occasionally to events or outings so that it lasts long and you do not get bored of it. Fashion jewellery is not really meant to be worn daily, so you can buy two or three expensive piece and only take them out when needed.

3. Store It Carefully

Once you are done cleaning them and using them, store them in a dry, room temperature place. Always pack your costume jewelry in pouches made of plastic or any other material you like.

The idea behind this is to keep your jewelry scratch proof and safe from coming in contact with harmful material. If you mix up all your things, then they get scratched p by rubbing with each other, lose colors and get old.

You can stock up your drawers with these pouches or even make compartments in them. If you have a large jewellery box with multiple compartments, then that automatically solves your problem.

4. Do Not Coat Your Costume Jewelry

If you have a particular design in mind then buy that but do not cover your jewelry with other things. A costume jewelry manufacturer put a lot of effort in the design; don't spoil it by adding coatings of nail paint or shiner etc.

The only time it is acceptable to add a coating is when you apply clear nail polish on the inside of fashion rings to avoid the green traces that appear on the skin after long usage.

5. Display Them

If you do not like keeping your jewelry in drawers but also want to avoid getting them tangled and messed up then this is your only option. Use display stands, where you can hang your earrings, necklaces and other pieces on a display stand.

A display stand already has compartments and hooks to make it easier for you to hand you fashion pieces. This way you keep them from getting scratched and you can look at all of them at once making it easier to chose when you are getting ready to go out.
