What Is A Sanitary Thermowell?

Sanitary Thermowells are used to guard temperature sensors such as thermocouples, thermistors, and bimetal thermometers against damage from excessive pressure, material velocity, and corrosion. They also increase the longevity of the sensor. Thermowells designed for high-pressure applications are usually machined from bar stock to ensure integrity. These are commonly used where exposed threads may collect contaminants, such as food processing or pharmaceutical production. The polish and huge radius between the stem and rim support easier cleaning.

Types Of Thermowell

Thermowells are available in three main barrel or shank design varieties.

  • Straight shank designs are the most common. They are cost-effective and need no additional machining. However, they tend to involve a high surface area, disrupting the flow. Therefore, they are not recommended for use in high-velocity flow systems.
  • Stepped shank thermowells have less surface area than straight shank types, allowing smoother velocities around the barrel and increased sensitivity for the inserted probe.
  • Tapered shank thermowells have the lowest degree of surface area. They offer increased sensitivity but with greater stiffness. Therefore, they can be used in high-velocity flow systems

What Is A Tridicator?

tridicator is a dual-purpose instrument that reads temperature and pressure levels on the same dial face using an independent pointer and a scale. They are also known as “Boiler Gauge” because they are specifically designed for use with heating systems and hot water boilers. The tridicators are called so because they measure altitude as a third measurement (hence “tri” the prefix).

What Is A Contractor Gauge?

The contractor gauge is designed for ventilation, heating, air conditioning, and plumbing applications. Pressure gauges are categorized and defined in several ways, such as by usage, media, and the method used to measure pressure. Pressure is determined by the perpendicular force applied per unit area of a surface, a calculation determined through different techniques and methods. Pressure gauges are divided into hydrostatic and mechanical gauges.

Gauge pressure is the pressure that is relative to the atmospheric pressure. This form of pressure is positive when above atmospheric pressure and negative when below atmospheric pressure. It is the ideal instrument to reduce the inspection cost in the industry. The pressure gauge has no error, so it maintains the “zero zone“ to measure the pressure in the best manner.

What Is The Need For An Adjustable Snubber?

Adjustable snubber protects your instruments against fluctuations, surges, and fluid hammers. A pressure snubber equalizes the speed at which a fluid or a gas reaches the measuring point. Using a snubber in pressure gauge applications does not alter the process pressure; it will reduce pulsations on the line, thus improving the accuracy of gauge readings and extending the life of that specific gauge. The fine thread adjustable valve allows us to fine-tune harmful harmonic vibration from the fluid systems. Pressure snubbers are designed to provide fully field adjustable damping. They also help to alleviate surges and pulsations to assure steady pressure readings. An adjustable snubber further refines the level of fine-tuning.
