5. Roller/Compacter – These are machines with gigantic rollers at the front. The purpose of these machines is to press down the final road surface layer and smoothen it with the roller. This ensures that the road is smooth and even.

6. Tractors – As surprising as it may seem, tractors are used in various stages of road construction. This very versatile farming equipment can also be used to clear land before any other part of road construction begins. Further, a tractor can be attached to a load carrying trolley and used to shift raw material from one point to another, albeit in small batches.
