Enjoy Exciting Activities during Your Morocco Holidays

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

Morocco can be your ideal destination to enjoy an adventurous and fun-filled holiday, as it has rugged mountainous regions, vast desert, and a lengthy coastline. This North African country is known as the gateway to Africa and has managed to maintain a good balance between traditions and a contemporary lifestyle. At times, you can find yourself setting out on a trail that was explored many centuries before by the ancient traders and travellers. You'll also witness tremendous glitz and glamour in its vibrant cities of Rabat, Casablanca, and Tangier.

You can spend some memorable moments during your cheap holidays to Morocco at the Jemaa el-Fna, which is a major square located in Marrakech. During the evenings, this magnificent square is transformed into a hub of entertainment with plenty of stalls and local performers. While exploring the popular city, Casablanca, you'll get to visit the Hassan II Mosque. This renowned tourist attraction took 10,000 artisans to complete and this is quite obvious from its beauty and grandeur. During your visit to Rabat, the country's capital, don't forget to visit its charming neighbourhood known as Oudaias Kasbah. It would be an excellent place for you to move away from the hustle-bustle of crowds and take a stroll amidst serene spaces.

There are some exciting outdoor activities that you'll get to enjoy during your cheap holidays to Morocco. One of them is horse-riding along the beach in Essaouira. While riding the horse in the evening, you can savour the beautiful views of sunset and the gentle waves rushing towards the vast stretches of sand. Some of the most thrilling adventures await you in the desert areas. During your time spent on the enormous sand dunes of the Sahara desert, you can enjoy an adventurous ride on a camel. You’ll also get to live like a Bedouin for a night while camping under the stars and dining with the nomads.

None of the Morocco holidays can be considered complete without savouring the delicious North African dishes of the country. One of the most popular dishes is the Couscous, also called Seksu. It is a kind of pasta prepared using wheat and rolling with hands. Another mouth-watering treat is the Harira, which is a type of soup made using a range of ingredients including tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas, and lamb pieces. While holidaying in this country, you'll also get to enjoy the mint tea. It is fondly called 'Moroccan Whisky' by many. Before being served, this sweetened tea is poured from a certain height into the glass to make it even more interesting.

One of the ideal times to visit Morocco is the spring season beginning in mid-March and lasting until May. Autumn months of September and October are also the good times to enjoy your holidays in this country. During these seasons, the climate is extremely pleasant and favourable for sightseeing and other outdoor activities. Winter arrives in November and stays until February with mild daytime temperatures and colder evenings. Summer season from June to August can be extremely hot, except in urban areas like Essaouira and Casablanca.
