Be in Spectacular Places During Cheap Holidays to Majorca

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

Majorca has a relatively rugged landscape and appears to be a totally different world in itself. It is the largest Balearic Island located in the Mediterranean Sea. While getting around on this Spanish island during your holiday, you'll get to witness magnificent rocky mountains and lush green hills. The beautiful coastline of the island has some dramatic cliffs that would give you some fascinating views of the surroundings from above, while the attractive coves are characterised by crystal-clear waters. During your holiday on this fantastic island destination, you'll get to explore its most popular places.

One of the most popular attractions you'll get to visit during your cheap holidays to Majorca is Botanicactus Botanical Gardens. It has a wide range of cacti from different parts of the world. Some of them are centuries-old species and measure several metres. The artificial terraces have been designed specifically to encourage the growth of cacti in this garden. You'll also get to see a section dedicated to the native flora while an artificial lake at this place has tropical plants and fields of bamboo around it. During your visit to this garden, you can also purchase a specimen to take home.

If you are a history buff, you'll enjoy your visit to Son Fornes. It is a pre-historic site that dates back to 900 BC and comprises some towers and dwellings built during those times. You can get to this site through the Museum of Son Fornes, which has been housed in an 18th-century flour mill building called Moli des Floret. Also located nearby is the Gothic church of Sant Bartomeu, which has impressive interiors and date back to the late 14th century. Another interesting place you can visit during your holiday on this island is La Reserva Nature Park, which is located in Tramuntana Mountains. This nature park also gives you the chance to enjoy zip-lining.

You can savour some wonderful sights of stalactites and stalagmites upon visiting the Drach Caves. These caves are home to one of the world's largest subterranean lakes, which allow you to take a memorable boat trip through them. If you are holidaying on the island along with your family, don't miss the Palma Aquarium. With a spectacular display of more than 25 water tanks, you and your loved ones would come face to face with starfish, sea horses, hammerhead sharks, eels, and groupers. Your kids would also have a wonderful time at the outdoor playground and large gardens.

During your time spent in Lanzarote, you can witness the architectural and artistic brilliance of La Seu Cathedral, which has been built on the site of a former Moorish mosque. The construction of this cathedral began in 1229 and was finished in 1601. Although it was designed in the Gothic style of architecture, it borrowed many influences over the centuries during its construction. Bellver Castle is another historical attraction, which is famous for being one of Europe's few round castles. It was built for King James II of Majorca in the 14th century and was used as a residence by many kings after him.
