Enhancing Mobile Browsing Experience with HTML5
As the mobile web is growing, the quality of user experience has become an indispensable factor. Particularly, providing a great browsing experience for mobile users becomes essential. Every aspect of the site like appeal, structure, functionality and content must be rendered without any loss. People will never vote for sites that give them a hard time.
This is especially true when it comes to filling in forms. But the good news is that HTML5 has introduced a number of new input types that make it easier for users to fill in your web forms on mobile devices. Let’s check out a few:
Email Inputs
Entering email IDs on mobile devices can be tricky, as you need to insert the ‘@’ symbol and other special characters. The email type evokes both the iOS and Android browsers to display slightly customized keyboards. On iOS, it presents with a shortened space bar with the addition of @ and period (.) keys. On Android, the standard comma key that has been replaced with an @ key.
URL Inputs
The url input type comes in handy to help users enter web addresses. On iOS, the space bar has been replaced with period, a forward-slash (/) key and a special .com key. Android keyboard doesn’t show any change.
Phone Numbers
Using the tel input type causes both iOS and Android to display a dialer keypad instead of the standard keyboard.
Take advantage of the new mobile-friendly features of HTML5 and render your sites seamlessly, regardless of the devices.
